About my book

An inspiring bilingual journey into dreams, determination, and the wonders of the sea, told in English and Greek, Leah and the Whale Sharks introduces young readers to the fascinating world of whale sharks—the largest fish in the sea—through the eyes of a curious and determined girl named Leah.

As the author and illustrator, I created this book as an engaging story for families raising multilingual children or for those learning a second language, while sharing a tale that is first and foremost full of heart and adventure. In the sparkling blue waters off the coast of Mexico, Leah’s dream begins to take shape.

She is enchanted by the gentle giants of the ocean—whale sharks—and longs to swim with them, even though she is told she must wait until she is older. Undeterred, she immerses herself in learning about ocean life, and eventually finds her own way to make her dream a reality, becoming a marine biologist and whale shark guide—turning a childhood dream into a fulfilling career.

Richly illustrated and full of warmth, this story is ideal for young ocean lovers aged 4–12. Younger children will enjoy it as a read-aloud (in either language), while older children and more advanced readers will be inspired by Leah’s journey from dreamer to whale shark guide. The bilingual format also makes it a wonderful tool for parents and educators supporting second-language acquisition in Greek or English.

Through Leah and the Whale Sharks, I hope to encourage environmental awareness, dual-language enjoyment, and the perseverance to follow your dreams—no matter how big they may seem.
